I just received our quote for Renaissance Learning for next year, and at
our school, we don't have a school-wide AR program. Some teachers use it
and some do not. After talking to our rep, I discovered that only about
half of our students have taken an AR or STAR test this year. The cost for
Renaissance is about half of my library budget each year, and I don't feel
that is the best use of my funds if the teachers are not going to take
advantage of the program. I only have 4 computers in the library, so I am
not able to give the STAR test during their library time. I do offer AR
incentives on my own, but since library is ungraded, most students choose
not to participate.

Do you have any alternative programs to AR that are cheaper and/or free? I
would like to offer other options to the administrators, but I am not aware
of any other programs.
