I quit AR and didn't replace it. No one was using it at the middle school and only 2 teachers were using it at the elementary school. I tried to have kids take tests during library but no one took it seriously even though I give grades. Kids were taking a book off the shelf and taking a Test without reading it!

Now library is the place to get any book you want with no restrictions. I run 1 or 2 reading competitions during the year but no quizzes.

>> I just received our quote for Renaissance Learning for next year, and at our school, we don't have a school-wide AR program. Some teachers use it and some do not. After talking to our rep, I discovered that only about half of our students have taken an AR or STAR test this year. The cost for Renaissance is about half of my library budget each year, and I don't feel that is the best use of my funds if the teachers are not going to take advantage of the program. I only have 4 computers in the library, so I am not able to give the STAR test during their library time. I do offer AR incentives on my own, but since library is ungraded, most students choose not to participate.
