[ISLMA-Share] Looking for a legal librarian connection

Have your student contact the local county courthouse. Most courthouses
have a law library staffed by a law librarian with Westlaw and/or Lexis
Nexis legal databases. Some courthouse law libraries are open to the
public; some are reserved for lawyers and judges. I am sure many
librarians would be willing to help out a high school student with a
law-related research project.

Also, many lawyers subscribe to these databases. If you know a lawyer in
town, you could call their office and say what you need. If you don't know
any lawyers, maybe you could just pick up the yellow pages and call one of
the larger firms in your area, especially one that deals with criminal law.

Once you find a place to access the databases, perhaps a paralegal or
lawyer would help the student get started with their research.

Also, you can call the bar association in your county or local legal aid
association. They may have databases that can be used. Community colleges
with paralegal programs also would have the databases.
