College-Level Research*

Students are being challenged every day in their journey to become 21st
Century learners, and educators are tasked with leading the way. More than
ever there is a need for collaboration between the library and the
classroom to arm students with the information skills required for lifelong
success.

Join librarians Amy Voorhees and Rachel Bielby on *May 10 at 3pm EDT* for a
free 30-minute webcast to learn how to:

   - Collaborate effectively with teachers on instruction
   - Develop (pre)research with reliable, foundational background
   information

*Library Director, John Gray Park ’28 Library - Kent School, CT*

Amy Voorhees is the Director of the John Gray Park ’28 Library at Kent
School in Northwest Connecticut. After college she began a career in book
publishing at Alfred A. Knopf, where she worked in foreign rights, and
later moved to Portland, Oregon where she worked at Blackwell’s Book
Services in Library Approvals and reviewed non-fiction for Publishers
Weekly. She graduated from the University of Virginia School of Law with a
special interest in copyright issues, and also worked as a research
assistant and for the Virginia Center for Digital History in Alderman
Library. She has been working at Kent School for seven years and finds
teaching and learning with high school students is a great way to stay
young.

*Librarian, Sacred Heart-Griffin High School, IL*

Rachel Bielby is in her second year at Sacred Heart-Griffin High School.
She is the library director and the sole library employee so she pretty
much does it all, from reference to circulation to collection development
and back again. She also spends her time assisting various classes in their
research, finding relevant articles and new ideas to send to departments,
and assisting teachers on the development of their assignments so that they
can maximize their use of the library. Her biggest task each year is to
educate students on how to properly use databases. In a Google world, it
can be a challenge to get students to realize the value of a quality,
academic database.

She graduated in 2013 with a Masters in Library and Information Science
from Wayne State University. In her spare time, Rachel enjoys relaxing on
her 6 acres with her husband, 2 children, and 2 dogs. She, of course,
enjoys reading a variety of books and loves to make recommendations to
staff, students, and friends.
