We had a similar situation in our area and I had the police chief come and
talk to the students...about the specific incident and he didn't sugar coat
it.

I too have the police chief come each year and talk to the students. He
does a 40 minute session for each of our three sections. He's unbelievably
generous with his time and believe his interaction with the students is
important. Each year there always seems to be new laws, new activities that
he discusses. The students really listen to the chief and we publicize it
to the parents.

Sadly the police department does have the "real-life" tragedy stories to
share that an online resource just isn't going to address as well. And
because it's the local police these are stories that are happening to
minors within their community...hits home really hard.

There is usually an Community Officer that will come and talk to schools.
I'd reach out to them first.
