[ISLMA-Share] eRead Illinois in JH and High School

I have 3 K-8 and 2 MS. The 6-8 grades in my schools have had access to Eread Illinois since we came back to school in January. I worked with Leslie and with her help determined that my students would have the JUV code for “scoping”. She is very helpful and answered all my questions quickly. She took care of the batch change of codes for my schools. The students have enjoyed having access to this great source of books. I warned them as I was working with classes to get their accounts set up that the newest additions to the collection would be the ones with the longest hold times and most of the time they found something they were interested in reading.
The “scoping” has worked quite well for us and as I have become more comfortable with the platform I have started to consider switching the 8th graders to the YA code.
It has been a good investment for us. I’m interested in seeing how many of the students use this over the summer.

We are a K-8 school looking into ERead Illinois for our school next school year so I would be really interested in hearing more about this.

Thanks,
Linda

We've had increasing interest and requests for ebooks in our libraries so I'm looking at subscribing to eRead Illinois for our JH and HS libraries. For those of you that already participate, how do your schools handle the accessibility students have to all types of content, such as adult/mature titles in a JH setting, etc.? I've learned that eRead has a 'scoping' feature to limit the titles they can browse, have you found this to be effective? Do you have parental consent forms?

I'd like to be prepared with solutions when our administrators or parents express their concerns on this point. Thanks so much for your help!
