I do a book talk with the kids in mid October about the Monarchs and then
give the students and teachers the list of books. We make weekly
announcements highlighting certain books to get them interested, and if a
entire class reads all 20 I go to their class at the end of the year with
freezie Pops and some fun things to raffle off. I had so many participate
last year.
For Bluestem I share the powerpoint, I give every student the bookmarks and
as they read they get hole puches in their bookmarks- during voting week,
they turn in their book marks for raffle tickets for every punch they get.
AND we play Bluestem Baseball. I will be presenting Bluestem Baseball at
the ISLMA conference this fall. It is so much fun and the kids LOVE IT!!!!
