I love the others that were mentioned but also:

"Dinosaur vs. the library" by Bob Shea is my favorite for the littlest
ones...because dinosaur "ROARS!" and he manages to not roar during the
story. I pair this with "Manners in the Library" by Carrie Finn...and skip
pages if the rules or procedures are different from mine...and focus on the
ones about keeping books away from pets and food/water and a consistent
place at home so they don't get lost.

And "Library Mouse" by Daniel Kirk because it introduces genres

and "My librarian is a camel: how books are brought to children around the
world" by Margriet Ruurs (I don't read cover to cover but read and show
select pages/pictures with pictures of various book mobiles from America's
past and present and to emphasize that books from the library are things to
be taken care of, not taken for granted)

and to pair with "Biblioburro" and contrast nonfiction with
fiction..."Waiting for the Biblioburo" by Monica Brown

Happy New Year!

What kind of library- themed introductory books do you to read to your young
elementary students during the first week or two of library classes? Any
great recommendations?

Thanks!
