My district has given up on the non-classroom faculty for this year. I'm supposed to be evaluated on student growth this year but my principal just sent out an email to those of us affected by this oversight and said, "Congratulations! You don't have to do student growth this year!"

I'm hoping that, in two years, when we're up for student growth evaluation again, the district will begin a conversation that will allow me to further advocate for myself and my potential within the school and the district.

At one time I did actively collaborate with teachers (primarily the English classes) and would have been able to show growth then.  However, the teachers I worked with have all either left the district or have found themselves struggling for time and their research projects have been the first to suffer the consequences of that. I'm left trying to sneak in library, research, and 21st century skills here and there with the more flexible teachers in 5-10 minute lessons that will likely never stick with the students beyond their current tasks.

In any case, I'm currently brainstorming ways to show growth just in case they come back and say, "oh nevermind, you DO have to do the student growth component this year!"
Good luck to you!

I oversee 5 libraries but have no direct instruction with students. I visit one library per day per week. What are others doing for PERA who are in the same situation?
