Thanks Tambree. I wasn't aware of this from Library Sparks. It is awesome! I will use it with my students this week!

Lane Smith's board book It's a Little Book is a great story time book about book care for pre-k.  Lane Smith also has written It's a Book, but It's a Little Book is really for the pre-k crowd.
This year with kindergarten and first graders I used Mo Willems' That Is Not a Good Idea.  Great short story, and since it was on the Monarch Award list in 2014-2015 (or so) it provides the perfect opportunity to discuss the great books that have been on the Monarch list.  During the story the students get used to repeating the refrain, "That is not a good idea!"   Library Sparks created six pdfs of the geese stating what they do with books.  One says, "I read a book while eating an ice cream cone."  We then reply with ,"That is not a good Idea!"  The link to the pdfs is http://www.librarysparks. com/wp-content/uploads/sites/ 9/2016/06/lsp_ll_ babygeesebookcare_oct15.pdf

We have a video Be a Book Buddy Taking care of Books that we may show.

The first weekof library I have a Library Orientation (powerpoint) that goes over the rules of the library, expectations, checkout, taking care of books, etc for the older grades.

I have two "Mr. Wiggles" books that I read most years.  I also scattered in "Who's afraid of the big bad book?", "Library Lion", "I took my frog to the Library", "Stella Louella's runaway book"sometimes "Goin' some place special" also.

I bought a couple of new books today look really cute and I think we'll have fun with, "The not so quiet Library" and "Do not bring your dragon to the Library".

Hope those help.  Have a great year!

Hi everyone!
I'm sure this has been a topic already but I'm looking for a read aloud about how to take care of your library books. It would be for K-2 (probably 3 as well).  Do you do anything for 4 & 5? I know that might be a silly question but do you read aloud the same thing or something else?
You can email me off the listserv at reader4evr at gmail.com
Thanks for your help!Allison
