I also work in a 5th-8th grade Middle School. This is our fourth year
having 5th graders in our building. It has been a challenge. Students
seem to migrate to those "mature" titles! I also check in reviews for age
appropriate. If it is for 8th grade and up I mark it in our online record
so it let's us know when we are checking it out. I also make sure all
students are aware there are books in our Media Center that are geared for
a wide range of students. They may be told to wait until they are in 7th
or 8th grade to read a particular title. So far, I haven't had parent
complaints. Keeping my fingers crossed---and toes.
