I really liked The Last Fifth Grade at Emerson Elementary. It is novel in verse, but multiple voices, boys and girls, and lots of real life problems.

At least once a week a kid tells me that it is the first book they have ever liked. (Seriously.) So they constantly ask me for readalikes…and I just can’t come up with anything quite like it.
