technology to the smallest libraries.

*Jacob Roskovensky*, librarian at Charleston High School and
president-elect of the Illinois Library Media Association (ISLMA) joined
Leslie to talk about *Libraries and the ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act)
implementation*. For months, much of the Illinois library community has
been working diligently to ensure that support for school library programs
and certified library staff will be included in the Illinois implementation
plan. Whether a school, public, academic or special library, Jacob
addressed how we all can support this most important initiative.

Municipal Minute – New Laws in 2017

IHLS libraries can sign up for free emails about local government and
municipal law by Ancel Glink lawyer Julie Tappendorf on FOIA, land use,
civil rights, social media, and litigation.

iREAD Resource Guide Call for Submissions!

The theme for the 2018 iREAD Resource Guide is *Reading Takes You
Everywhere*. Your fellow librarians need all of your great ideas to share
with libraries around the world. Each idea submitted helps to strengthen
the Resource Guide and you could WIN a gift certificate to the iREAD store
for submitting an idea!

procedures for closing due to emergencies or inclement weather. If you have
not already done so, visit this page to sign up for the* IHLS Text Alert
System* service. IHLS will send out text alerts for weather delays,
building closings, and route changes.

   - *Polaris Library Closings Form - *This form lets us change settings in
   Polaris so your closed days are not counted against your patrons for return
   dates and late fee assessments.
   - *No Delivery Days Form - *This is for our *Delivery Team*. This form
   allows your delivery hub to know which days you DO NOT want them to deliver
   to your building.
   - *Unscheduled/Emergency Closings - *The purpose of this form is to let
   other libraries know when your library is closed. This *does not alert
   IHLS* of your unscheduled closing.

*Note:* If you have already filled out the Library Closings Form for 2016
you do not need to fill it out again, but we do ask that you take the time
to fill out the No Delivery Days form.
