Chances are anyone looking for them will not be familiar with Dewey, think of what would be easiest for your patron. I agree with the others. Put them together.

When in doubt, think through how they will be accessed.  Will a history teacher only go to the 900s?  Or are you going to walk over there and hand them what they need anyway?

Subject: [ISLMA-Share] Cataloging Question


As part of a grant, our school received a copy of the Brown University’s The Choices Program. It’s a complete set of teaching materials that focus on common core standards of text analysis and critical thinking. It’s a great resource, but I’m struggling on where to catalog the materials. We have a teacher resource/professional development section. But which Dewey number? Do I separate the materials into each individual topic: civil rights, manifest destiny, WWI, WWII, etc.? Or do I place them all under 373.19 or 375 with curricula?
