[ISLMA-Share] Genre-fying Question

I'm in the process of just doing my YA section and the term "Chick Lit" was
addressed.

I was surprised to hear that it was originally meant to showcase women
authors, which I find also rather gender specific.

My staff did not like "Romance" because we are an elementary school. So
these types of books are going into "Realistic Fiction" - non-gender
specific.
