[ISLMA-Share] Elementary 1:1

[Email list for the Illinois School Library Media Association]

I am in a 4-5 building, and we are starting 1:1 next year.  The staff had wanted Chrome books, but the district is buying iPads.  Our 6-8 building started 1:1 iPads this year and it has gone fairly well.  I have visited a few schools to see how they are doing.

Right now we have a lab and carts that are able to be checked out. I don't always get the devices because the classroom teachers sign them out quickly.  I am hoping with the 1:1, I will have more consistency with being able to use computer based lessons.  I am hoping to have the students' reading logs on a Google Doc and get rid of our library folders.  I have begun doing my lessons in Google Classroom this year which has cut down on paper.  
We have purchased many non fiction ebooks, but the kids don't seem to be using  them this year. I am hoping that next year with the 1:1,  the ebooks will really take off.
