You need to get the correct "permissions" to merge duplicates. (A box checked by your IT guys.) Once you have these rights, create a resource list called Merge Duplicates. When you come across a title that has duplicates, you move them to the resource list.

Then go to the list. Check the duplicates and then click "View these duplicates."

Pick the best one (based on title, not number of copies). Merge.

Once your done, remove the title from the resource list.
