[ISLMA-Share] Security systems

[Email list for the Illinois School Library Media Association]

I’ve never had security gates.  I found that many of the books that have grown legs and went off to explore the world did so by getting mixed up with textbooks and notebooks.  Then the student is embarrassed to return it.  So whenever out school has Locker Clean Out Day, I offer a library book amnesty day.  Return any book whether to checked it out or forgot to with no questions asked and no fines.  It’s amazing how many books are returned.

We do not have security gates. We do have some books walk off, but not very many.
