I agree, too! Google Groups would be great! So many schools are using Google Apps for Education that a transition shouldn’t take that much effort to learn.

Currently, I read the digest version, and it can be very hard on the eyes with many replies and too much duplication of original text. Also the conversations are not threaded, so it is very challenging to follow a topic.

Google Groups also allows management of membership, choice of message delivery frequency, and a great interface to read at will (see image):
