[ISLMA-Share] Summer

[Email list for the Illinois School Library Media Association]

I get paid for 5 days before and 5 days after the school year. I spend this time doing inventory; completing POs for supplies, online databases, magazine subscriptions, etc; and whatever else I had a hard time completing with students/staff around (collection development, weeding)!

I have 10 extra days, so this year I worked six before school, making sure everything was ready to go, and getting some Purchase Order's done, and then I am finishing some tasks up now.

I am just curious if anyone is paid to work any extra days in the summer? I am finding I spend literally 6 days a week in my areas to ensure things are ready for the next school year and I do it all for free. I am not complaining as it makes the year run MUCH smoother. But I would like to ask to be paid/compensated in some way but wanted to know how it works for everyone else.
