The next ISBE ESSA listening tour begins today in both Chicago and Jacksonville.

Libraries are now mentioned in this recent draft. However, we still need to continue to speak to the ISBE to make sure this stays in as we move toward the final draft. We need to define what "library resources" are (more than books!) and focus on why licensed school librarians are "highly effective teachers" and help educate every child.

We once again ask you to volunteer your time to attend one of these meetings. We need you speak at the meeting AND/OR send your thoughts to essa at isbe.net. We realize that the meeting locations are few and far between; if you are not able to attend a meeting, your voice is still important. You can email your stories to essa at isbe.net
