[ISLMA-Share] ISBE ESSA listening tour in Aurora this Thursday!

We only have 1 person signed up for this Thursday’s meeting in Aurora. We need your help!!!

We once again ask you to volunteer your time to attend one of these meetings. We need you speak at the meeting AND/OR send your thoughts to essa at isbe.net<mailto:essa at isbe.net>. You can sign up for the listening tour at this link: http://bit.ly/2giYSc9 Signing up will allow the ESSA task force to email you the talking points and help you organize with other librarians attending the same meeting. We realize that the meeting locations are few and far between; if you are not able to attend a meeting, your voice is still important. The next ISBE ESSA listening tour begins today in both Chicago and Jacksonville.

Libraries are now mentioned in this recent draft. However, we still need to continue to speak to the ISBE to make sure this stays in as we move toward the final draft. We need to define what "library resources” are (more than books!) and focus on why licensed school librarians are "highly effective teachers" and help educate every child.
