It is our pleasure to announce the Fall 2016 ISLMA Award winners. The award
recipients will be honored at the ISLMA Conference on November 4, 2016
during the Awards Gala. Please join us in offering our congratulations to:

Angie Green

Trewyn K-8 School, Peoria

Presented with the Past-President Pin to recognize her leadership and
service to the organization during her tenure as President.

Georgeann Burch

K-12 Program Coordinator, School of Information Sciences: The iSchool at
Illinois, Champaign

Winner of the Polestar Award, presented to honor members of the Illinois
School Library Media Association who have made outstanding contributions to
school library media programs in Illinois.

Christy Semande: “Cookies for a Cause”

Canton High School, Canton

Winner of the ISLMA Upstart Award recognizing a school library media
center’s achievement in planning and implementing an innovative or creative
service which has a measurable impact on users.

Dr. Nick Polyak

Superintendent, Leyden High School District 212, Franklin Park

Winner of the ISLMA Administrator of the Year Award recognizing the
meritorious support of a school library program by a building or district
level school administrator


Honor Awards

These special honor awards are designed to honor and recognize individuals
for distinguished and exceptional service or contributions to ISLMA and/or
the library community. The awards are unique in that they are initiated by
a member of the Board, are highly selective, and given only at the
discretion of the Board.

Michelle Glatt

Chiddix and Evans Junior High Schools, Bloomington-Normal

Recipient of the School Librarian of the Year Award recognizing outstanding
service and leadership contributions to the organization, the school
library profession or a school library in Illinois during the previous
school calendar year.

Kristen Rademacher

Marist High School, Chicago

Recipient of the First Page Award recognizing the contributions of a member
within the first five years of membership for service to the organization
and contribution to librarianship in Illinois.

Dave Williams

Rainbow Books
Recipient of the Pillar Award recognizing an exhibit vendor for their
continued support of the organization, of school libraries or of school
library professionals.
