I have some parent volunteers at our elementary school whom I schedule each
month to help with reshelving there. At our intermediate center (grades 4 &
5), I spend a lot of time teaching the students how to reshelf their own
books, and they do it right at the beginning of the period. At the junior
high and high school, I have teams of student volunteers. At the JH, I have
a small group and they come during their study hall once a week. At the
HS, I have almost 40 students who volunteer once a month before school. I
create a schedule for them. Yes, a few shelving mistakes are made, but for
the most part, this has been a lifesaver for me since I have no assistants
or aides. I also have found that the students enjoy and take pride in the
task! :)
