Before you start, I would check to see that there is not already a standardized curriculum mapping procedure in your district. We use district-wide curriculum mapping software and I asked to get courses created for me (one each for grades 6-12) to make sure that the information literacy standards I cover in lessons and/or programming are included. I include ISAIL standards, but also include ISTE and content area standards when collaborating with teachers. Even though I am entirely flexible scheduling, so most of my lessons are a tool in a teacher’s unit, I wanted to make sure the the sequence of research skills and my library programs were included in the big picture of curriculum.

As for the format, ours is set by the software, but I would be happy to communicate off-list with samples of what the units/lessons look like to include the standards.

I have been teaching a long time and have never had anything handed to me like this. Has anyone had experience with having to do this and could lend me some assistance? I have been reading through them and quite a bit of it seems to overlap with the Language Arts lessons, are ideas that I present in an informal way, or the standard seems to be normal library procedures. How have you handled these?
