Blessings in a Backpack is a national organization that provides food for hungry children on the weekend. This organization is near and dear to my heart. We have a local chapter here in our community. Please visit the website www.blessingsinabackpack.org to see if this might be a possibility for your discussion. I hope this is helpful! Please contact me personally if you have any questions.

MISSION
Blessings in a Backpack mobilizes communities, individuals and resources to provide food on the weekends for elementary school children across America who might otherwise go hungry.

VISION
Every school-aged child in America has the nourishment needed to learn and grow. As a leader in the movement to end childhood hunger, Blessings strives to ensure children don't go hungry on the weekends by empowering individuals and communities to take action.

Good morning!

A teacher at my school is looking for an organization that "has made some sort of change in the world through helping people in poverty" that would be willing to Skype with some students. She has reached out to some places on her own, but hasn't had much luck. I personally don't know of any specific organizations off the top of my head, so I thought I would ask the great minds of ISLMA. The teacher said, " I was thinking about organizations or individuals who have helped with food, access to education, books, health or anything really. The kids need to make a change in their local community and globally so I would like them to be inspired ideally."

This sounds like such a cool idea, I would love to help her out!

Any ideas or contacts?

Thanks for your help!
