[ISLMA-Share] DVDs for Teachers

Lauren,

If they do not get checked out very often or if a certain movie is used by a certain department for a certain unit, one path you could consider is to distribute the movies to the departments and remove them from your catalog and storage space all together.

We eliminated all multimedia from the library and now each department maintains their own collection (paid for by their own funds). It's worked well here.

Just a suggestion.

I used something similar to these (https://amzn.com/B002JR2V7C) at home and I LOVE them. I like having the cover for the info, but takes up MUCH less space.

Hi all,

I use up a lot of space in my storage room for DVDs for teachers. These don't get checked out a lot, and I have weeded quite a few already (all the VHS are already gone). I'm thinking about using a box with sleeves (like this one<http://www.containerstore.com/s/120-disc-acrylic-storage-box/d?productId=10022645&q=sleeves>) and getting rid of the cases, so they take up significantly less room. Does anyone already do this and have any pros or cons for me to consider? I envision writing the barcode # on the DVD to type in and putting the call # on the sleeve. Teachers would take the DVD out of the sleeve and put it in an empty protective case to store it while they have it.

Thanks!
