Dear Friends,

I’m sorry to report that – after ten days of intensive emailing, calling
and tweeting – not nearly enough Members of the House of Representatives
have signed the two “Dear Appropriator” letters of support for LSTA and
Innovative Approaches to Literacy that I have written and spoken to you
about before.

I’m writing to you again first thing this morning because TODAY, APRIL 3,
IS THE ABSOLUTE DEADLINE for generating those signatures. Only you can
convince your local member of Congress to sign now.

So, before your second cup of coffee, please go to Fight for Libraries!

and click the big red “Take Action Now” button to call (that’s best!),
email and/or tweet at your local member of Congress to ask him or her to
sign both the LSTA and IAL letters TODAY. It takes just 5 minutes and
everything you need is online.

The door slams TODAY on this first, best chance to save LSTA and IAL from
elimination or drastic cuts in the House per the President’s request. We
can beat this, but not by letting up now. Together, let’s finish strong!
