We've used AR for over 10 years, and are happy with it. This year we're
adding our dual language classes. We are the only school in our district to
use it. 15 years ago our school was performing significantly lower than the
others in the district in reading. Since implementing AR, our building,
which is a Title 1 building, is usually performing as well or better than
the others.

I know some people don't like AR because they feel it limits what students
can check out, which of course violates the Library Bill of Rights. We
allow students to check out 2 books - one at their AR level and one chosen
from anything in the library, so the kids are still reading something at
their level and something of their choice. Over time, the data becomes more
and more useful.

Please call if you have any questions.
