We use AR for K-12, but we don't use it as the prescribed method. We let
the kids read at any level, any book they want to read. It is more to
create a reading culture, rather than a teaching tool. I do find that the
kids keep reading in their busy lives. They do need so many points each
quarter, but it isn't a large amount. Kids are allowed to test on what
they read for classroom novels, so not all the reading is even outside of
class.

I do know before AR our school circulated 170 books for 180 students in one
year. Now my circulation for August 1 to April 1 is 8450.
