Dear Amy,
This doesn't exactly fit your question, but thought I'd share it
anyway. At the end of each year I throw ice cream sundae parties for kids
involved in the library's reading contest, one for jr. high and another for
H.S. While the kids are sitting around eating and visiting, I pass out
blank slips of paper & pencils. Then I ask them to write down:
1. Favorite things from the year
2. Least-like things from the year
3. Activity suggestions
4. Book suggestions
These are the kids who are the most interested in library happenings. I
always get great responses that I utilize in the coming year.
I also e-mail teachers towards the end of the year and ask for any
order suggestions that can help with their curriculum and opinions about
periodicals. (I do this at the start of each year, too.) Only a small
number respond, but again - they're the people who care about the library's
content.
    Best of luck!
:) Kathy
