[Email list for the Illinois School Library Media Association]

I had that issue 2 years ago. Our district put out an app that shows a student’s current check outs to the parents. I was overruled by a big wig at the district office, but here is what I cited to her. It looks like it is the same source.

Please read:
“(i) "library" means any public library or library of an educational, historical or eleemosynary institution, organization or society.”

And “Sec. 1. (a) The registration and circulation records of a library are confidential information. No person shall publish or make any information contained in such records available to the public.”

I know that I have seen a copy of the exact wording of Illinois law on this listserv, but I have been unable to retrieve it through the listserv archive.  Does anybody have a copy of or know the name or number of the Illinois code that prevents school librarians from sharing title information for patron’s book check outs?
