I have a friend in a school district out of state who is an aide at an
elementary library. I told her about this awesome list serv/resource and
she asked me if I would pose this question for her. She has very little
time between classes, and is struggling with how to get the kids books
checked in so that she knows which kids can check out new ones and which
ones can't. Right now they bring them down in the morning, and she quickly
scans them in and then scans all of the kids' bar codes to see who has an
overdue and who does not--quickly, before the class comes. These are just
kindergartners and they only have library once a week, so they can't
remember at all if they turned in a book or not. If anyone has some
helpful tips or suggestions, I can pass them along to her. Before school
starts we still have time to implement change if anyone knows a better way.
