I don't see how you can do anything without having the kids all on a
computer!! We don't have Kindergarten student logins so they aren't using
Google yet. Our first grade teacher is a go-getter and has her kids all
logging on. We love Google Drawings because it is simpler to navigate than
docs for little people projects. On docs/draw you can start with typing
the alphabet, one letter per line. Then show them how to change the
font--size, color, font, etc. Then we have them go back and type a word
for each letter of the alphabet. When words are typed they get to make
their lists "cool" by changing lettering, color, etc. They can also do
this with their spelling lists just to learn how to do bold, italic, color,
size, etc. Move from there to inserting a picture and writing a sentence
about it. Insert 4 pictures and caption each one. Teach them to center
the caption. Do an acrostic poem. Show them how to insert a 2x2 table and
each box has to be a sentence about themselves. (or make a table related
to something they are doing in social studies or science--habitats,
animals, community helpers) Each box has to have a picture. Each box has
to have different style and color font. All of these things just work on
using the tools. But I don't know how you can teach this without hands on
availability!
Good luck!
