Off the top of my head, load it, first, with a "Live CD" so you can test
drive it on the machine you want to load it on.  Then, make sure you have
the drivers on hand for sound/network/mass storage, etc.

I loaded the most recent version (it's still in Alpha) on a Dell 1510
laptop.

It installed fine. It just doesn't have any of the drivers for the audio
card, the network card, the camera, the storage... It gave me a default
level video driver that worked okay and it recognized the CD drive and the
keyboard/touchpad.
