Using a monthly calendar, I assign every study hall to a specific day to
visit the LMC. Students may stay in study hall or visit the LMC--their
choice. The calendars are posted throughout the building and we make small
versions that fit in the students' daily planners. There's only one study
hall Per. 1, so those students may visit every day. There are six study
halls during Per. 8, so they may have two-three scheduled visits per week.
I am a solo librarian with one full-time aide. We only schedule one of us
to supervise the study hall visitors, so the monthly calendar manages the
number of study hall visitors as there may also be two classes visiting us
in the lab and classroom at any time.

We also have pre-printed LMC passes in case a study hall student needs to
use the LMC on a non-LMC day. The pass must be initiated by the teacher
who gave the assignment and signed by the study hall teacher before the
student comes to the LMC to make sure the student isn't marked absent. The
teachers have been trained to write these passes sparingly as too many
would defeat the calendar.

Students may visit us during their lunch periods without a pass.
