Good afternoon, and happy new year!

Every year, the Illinois Library Association hosts meetups with state
legislators, as a way to build relationships and share personal stories
about the impacts of legislative action (or inaction) on libraries, their
users, and their communities.

With the ESSA implementation plan in its final stages and the School
Funding Reform Commission releasing a proposal later this month--not to
mention the uncertainty around federal legislation and funding--it is a
critical time for school librarians to know their elected officials.
