This is the opposite of your question, but one book my students have NOT
liked was Matt de la Pena's *Mexican Whiteboy. *It addresses problems of
mixed background kids, of which we have many. It was an Abe book a few
years back. Some years we have a significant migrant population, and many
migrant families have becoming permanent Princeville residents and marry
within the community. NONE of our students have liked that book, though
other de la Pena titles (like his *The Living* and *The Hunted* books) have
been well-received. idk.
