If you still buy from Baker and Taylor, many of the reviews are there. They also list many of the awards. Just make sure it's the original entry as paperback records don't usually have this. The records are also in Titlewave AND many are in Destiny in the picture part. Could start there.

I can attest to about half of them if needed. I read more middle grade and adult now. Anything for Linds! It would be more of a why this book is important for teens thing, diversity, quality of writing, etc.

I would tell her to start by looking for editorial reviews on each book (SLJ, Horn Book, Voya, Booklist, NYT, Kirkuk, etc.). Are they good? Did the book earn any starred reviews? Then I would have her see whether the books have won/been shortlisted for any awards (Hugo, Alex, Printz, Newbery, National Book Award, etc.). Lastly, I would check to see if they have appeared on any 'best books' lists (ALA lists, state lists, end of year LA Times/NYT lists, etc.).

I, personally, would keep track of all of that in a Google Sheet for ease of access and assessment.

Good luck to her on her dissertation!
