Cool idea! It would be fairly easy to create a simple game like that in Scratch (https://scratch.mit.edu/), especially if they have some experience using it. If they have never used Scratch or other block-based coding, they might want to start with a more simple activity, such as creating several characters and having them “speak” something about themselves using the dialog boxes or a voice recording. Let us know how it works out!

Subject: [ISLMA-Share] Video Game?

Hello! I may have spoken too soon when I was planning with an 8th Grade teacher. Her class is reading Tom Sawyer, and I had the idea to use Bloxels (which I've ordered through Mackin) to create a video game surrounding the book, things like how would the character move through the levels, what would the challenges be, who is the enemy, what is the character trying to achieve, etc.
My problem is that I'm not sure when the Bloxels will be in. Is there another video game creation app/website/etc. that we could use for this project? Or an alternative "tech" tool that we could use to create something along these lines. She is open to alternative assessments, so let's hear them!
Thank you, you wonderful group!
Sincerely,
Rachel Amadio
