[ISLMA-Share] Author Visit Advice

[Email list for the Illinois School Library Media Association]

If you are feeling artsy, re-create one of his book covers on a huge sheet
of paper to welcome him. (for instance, when we were hosting Candace
Fleming re: her book Bulldozer's Big Day, I drew the bulldozer and wrote
"Prairie Point's Big Day") Have kids hold it to greet Tom when he comes;
take photos for your yearbook and/or newsletter.

I always ask visiting authors what their favorite books were as children,
then I make a poster (8.5x11) with their photo, one or two of their books
(to remind kids of that author's books) then the words "So-and-so
recommends..."
 then pictures of 5 or 6 of their favorite books.
