Kelli,

I don’t know if you have found any authors for your Family Literacy Night yet but, if not, you might want to try the authors that are on the IL READS list for this year. IL READS is a program of the Illinois Reading Council.

The authors are usually pretty available to make presentations and are all from Illinois. For those who now live outside of Illinois, the authors may be willing to make a trip home to visit family and/or Skype visits are always an option. The 2017 authors and their selected books are:

K - 2

· Alice McGinty<http://www.illinoisauthors.org/authors/Alice_B._McGinty> – Gandhi: A March to the Sea (Alice lives in Urbana.)

· Patrick McBriarty<http://www.illinoisauthors.org/authors/Patrick_T._McBriarty> – Drawbridges Open and Close ( Patrick lives in the Chicago area.)

· Lisa Maggiore<http://www.illinoisauthors.org/authors/Lisa_Maggiore> – Ava the Monster Slayer (Lisa lives in the northwest Chicago area.)

· Amy Krouse Rosenthal and Tom Lichtenheld<http://www.illinoisauthors.org/authors/Tom_Lichtenheld> – I Wish You More (Amy has passed away but Tom lives in Geneva.)

· Suzanne Slade<http://www.illinoisauthors.org/authors/Suzanne_Slade> – The Inventor’s Secret: What Thomas Edison Told Henry Ford (Suzanne lives in Libertyville.)

Grades 3 – 5

· Eric Kahn Gale<http://www.illinoisauthors.org/authors/Eric_Kahn_Gale> – Zoo at the Edge of the World (Eric lives in the Chicago area.)

Subject: [ISLMA-Share] Authors Nov. 2

Hello!
We are having our literacy night on November 2nd and they are having trouble getting an author to speak. Is anyone hosting an author that week we could share? Or have some names we can try. Thanks in advance. You can email me at ksimpson at sd60c.org<mailto:ksimpson at sd60c.org>.

Thanks!
