[ISLMA-Share] book recommendation needed

Hi All,
I could use the wisdom of the group for this one. I need some suggestions
for a sixth grade girl whose mother was brutally murdered last year.

She is beginning to read again, but understandably, wants only *happy *books.
There is generally strife in middle school books so this one is a stumper
for me.

Any suggestions are deeply appreciated. This is such a sad, tragic
situation.
