[ISLMA-Share] Emailing student fines/holds in Destiny

What email address are the overdue emails sent from? Do they come from a Follett email address?

We have student email now, but their accounts are only able to accept email from within the district, so I think my hopes of automating overdue slips may be dashed.

I agree that this is such a convenient way to get the notices out!

Just a little heads-up though... I had this all set up and working at the beginning of the school year, but at the end of September my district brought on a new security system called Securely. Well, Securely was really doing it's job and blocked the Follett-driven emails from going to our student accounts. All 560 of them were being bounced back to my spam folder every week until we figured out what was happening. All is fixed now, but you may want to double check with students to make sure they are actually receiving them.

Thank you Tim Yoder for offering your time and help and Leah Krippner for the info! I was able to send them out. Here are my steps to those who are interested:

Patron reports
Overdues
Notices : English
DISTRIBUTED:
                  Via email
Display name: I put my School's Name and LRC
                  Email: my own
EMAIL 1 (in the students' info their email is located in this spot. It could be email 1 or email 2. You need to check this)
Changed the blurb to fit my need
Scheduled it to go out every Weds.

Whoop! Whoop!

Very exciting!

We do this. The key is for your students to have email that the school knows and have your tech input it as Email 2. (Our school provides gmail to all students so it all auto-fills nicely.)

You then run a patron report...all items overdue. Notice sent to email 2. For this notice we schedule it to go on Fridays and include the titles.

We send a similar notice to parents on Sunday, but suppress the title. We used to send the notice to parents on Wednesday, but found it just generated a million frustrated parent phone calls wanting to know what book etc. On Sunday at noon, parent's are usually with their kids and can talk about it right then. Our returns on Monday have gone through the roof.

We also now send reminder notices to students the day before an item is due. This has helped tremendously as well.

Is there a way to do this or does it have to be done individually? I can't seem to find it in the help section. Thank you in advance for any help you can provide!
