[ISLMA-Share] Battle of the Books

We follow March Book Madness (http://marchbookmadness.weebly.com/) in which
students vote on their favorite books each week as elimination progresses.

Last year we had our 3rd and 4th grades do the Picture Book Bracket. With
help from our local public library, we got enough of the books into
teachers' hands that they could read most of the 16 nominees aloud during
the first week. We kept the winners around so there could be additional
discussion/read aloud as the weeks progressed. We created a bracket on a
bulletin board in the 3/4 grade hallway, and moved the winners up each
week. We also listed the winners in the morning broadcast, and showed the
book covers. We didn't participate in the nation-wide online voting, as we
were just learning the program. We might get into that eventually.

We had a few students who were interested in the MG novel bracket, and we
had them create the bracket bulletin board in the media center. On that
bracket, we kept track of both our winners and the nation-wide winners.

Our kids LOVED this, and were very excited each week to see which book won.
