[ISLMA-Share] E-BOOKS One Copy vs Metered Access

The publishers determine if books are One Copy/One User or Metered Access. I prefer to purchase the One Copy/One User license, but it can be expensive for popular and/or adult level authors. I don’t like the metered access for a set # of months. We don’t have a ton of usage yet on OverDrive and I feel like I am paying for something that isn’t necessarily getting used. I only purchase these if I know they will be popular, or are being used in a class. I don’t mind the Metered Access for 26 checkouts. I feel like this is reasonable – most print books don’t survive 26 checkouts, especially paperbacks. Usually, the price for the 26 check out books is pretty reasonable, too.

Subject: [ISLMA-Share] E-BOOKS One Copy vs Metered Access

I have never purchased e-books before but I would like to begin to build up our e-book collection. I'm curious if people prefer Metered Access for popular titles or One Copy/One User. While browsing Overdrive many titles are one or the other. Have you run into a problem with Metered Access 24 or 36 months and having to re-purchase the book. Is one copy/one user preferred? Looking for peoples opinions on the topic.

Thank you,
