Awesome!!!

Thank you all for your input.
We do have the Percy Jackson series and they are popular with our 3rd graders.

Thank you,

Hello Carrie!

Heroes of Olympus series is FABULOUS!!! They are generally intended for 5-8, but a kiddo who loves to read and is younger could tackle them. The sentence structure is not difficult, but some of the vocabulary can be, due to the subject: mythology. However, Riordan is a master at making mythologies very accessible, and highly entertaining, to the masses. There is nothing too "much" in content, maybe a few mild curse words, and of course the word "Hell" is mentioned, but that is the myth version, not the "four-letter-word" version. There is violence, but not just for violence sake, and way less than most video games. School Library Journal says it is 5th grade to 9th grade. Booklist goes down to 4th.

I hope that helps! If you haven't read them, I encourage you to do so. They are very, very good!

Sincerely,

Kristi

P.S.-The audiobook versions are really good too!

Hello,

I am a 1st-3rd grade librarian.
My students are asking for The Heroes of Olympus books. I do plan on reading the series over the summer, but would love to hear some of your opinions and thoughts as if these books are appropriate for 3rd graders, please and thank you!
