We have had great PD success with Making Thinking Visible and it companion, Visible Learning for Literacy--one of our English teachers said that is the most important book she's read professionally in a long time. There is a Visible Learning for Mathematics book as well.

Personally, I am reading Different Minds: Gifted Children with AD/HD, Asperger Syndrome and Other Learning Deficits and Learning First, Technology Second which have both impacted my professional growth as a school librarian and have been important 'shares' with my faculty.

Hope this helps!

Subject: [ISLMA-Share] PD Book Study Suggestions

I am planning on leading a book study this summer as a PD opportunity for teachers. I am looking for a book that either relates to teaching and learning or to school culture (for example “building community” or "developing empathy”). It can also be about an educational trend. The selection criteria is pretty broad as long as it provides a PD opportunity, and it engages the group in meaningful discussion. If you have read or heard about a great book I would really appreciate your suggestions. Thank you!
