> For many years our schools have used Accelerated Reader as part of the reading curriculum. Students were expected to read books at their reading level, get a certain number of points each quarter and those points were part of their grade. This coming year we will not be using AR. I am concerned that students may not read as much. Have any of you gone through a similar transition and if so, how do your teachers ensure that students read independently and comprehend what they’ve read? Book reports or other projects?
