[AISLE-Share] Library food policies

We allowed students to bring lunches in last year. For the first half of
the school year, it was GREAT! Then 2nd semester we started noticing more
left behind water bottles and wrappers, then spilled food, then entire
trays were left behind on the tables or dumped (along with plates and
silverware) into the trash.
So this year we have a pretty strict no food policy. Kids are allowed to
bring in drinks with lids or caps.
We sell coffee in our library, which has been a really nice addition, and
the money we make allows us to buy extra books. The quick and dirty: we
have a Keurig; I purchase the supplies from Amazon as well as Sam's Club
using library money; we charge $1 for plain coffee, $1.50 for hot
chocolate, and $2 for the flavored cappucinos; money we make gets deposited
back into the library account. For my own records I keep track of how much
money goes back and forth from our account that is for/from coffee, just to
make sure it's worth our while. :) My assistant and I make the coffee, but
are rarely bombarded.
If anyone has any questions about our coffee bar, please feel free to
e-mail me off list - foxc at unit5.org
